So much to tell

There is so much going on recently, where do I begin? We were blessed to be able to welcome our daughter into the family of God on Sunday, she was terrific for the entire thing. I couldn't believe that she didn't cry even once, I am so proud of her.

We FINALLY have a vehicle running, I have to thank my family for blessing us with the ability to pay for it. Life threw quite a few curves, turns out it was not just the transmission but also the half and intermediate shaft that had to be replaced. :(

I started my job and it is going well so far. I've only had one day so I'll let you know.

Buttercup looks like she will be calving within the next few weeks, we are really excited as this will mean that Lot bred her. We miss him terribly but the cows are muddling through, lol.

We butchered miss piggy as she was not gaining as we'd have liked and we needed to cull the group.

I think we have far too many roosters, so looks like we'll be butchering on the weekend. ;)

The kids are doing really well with their homeschool work and we have worked out a plan for their time while I'm at work. I am really happy with their progress and HG is getting ready to move up to 1st grade work officially. :) Her math skills are in the 1st-2nd grade range so it's time. lol.

All in all, things are moving along. Money's tight - to be expected, there's a lot of love and laughter and time by the fire. :)

Homeschooling is going well, it is wonderful to see how much the children are learning and we are having lots of fun with it. The Kindergartner is as quick as a whip and very eager to learn everything. My mother gifted the children a subscription to brain pop to add to their learning aids. The kids really love it. Our 6th grader is enjoying the flexibility that homeschooling offers. Having ADHD is quite difficult in a traditional school setting, the ability to take breaks and spend time outside and working with his hands, offers him a whole lot more than he could have gotten. The toddlers are not left out they are learning writing basics along with counting and the alphabet. The older toddler has his colors and shapes down already.

Anyway, we continue to pray for guidance. We were not able to keep our appointment with the butcher as we had no vehicle to pull the trailer :( Anywho that's what's been going on.

Total Slacker

I know, I've been a total slacker last week, I promise it is not to happen again. I got all caught up with my "job" and actually did some work, I could have been happily been blogging, lol. The good news is that the excessive temperatures have passed and the hens have been laying 17-18 eggs a day :) Dh, the children and I actually left the house and went to a birthday party, our goddaughter turned 1 this weekend. :) We have started skinning and gutting the whole chicken, a huge step in our poultry processing :) We have finally completed all of the meat birds that we got. We are missing them though, they were a great bunch and they always made us laugh. :)


On a sad note Sammy, our wonderful dog, has been missing since Sunday. He usually greats us in the morning and he was no where around, thinking he might be off chasing rabbits we left for the party. When we returned, we expected him to greet us but again he was a no show. It broke my heart as dh rode AR's bike around the property looking for a body or something . . . anything to explain his disappearance. We have begun calling for him every time we step outside, but he is yet to come running. We continue to pray that he will come home and that he is safe. He has been the best dog and can never be replaced. :(

Interview by phone

The phone interview is a wonderful way to kill 2 birds with one stone. Today I was able to save my dh the trip (and the dragging of 6 kids) to an interview that was over in less than 20 minutes :) It's a good day, lets hope my job doesn't ruin it, lol. :)

I'm still Here

Sorry I've been awol for a bit. Lots going on right now and we don't have the internet at home. I will do more of an update as soon as I get a minute at work. Thank you for checking up on me :)

UPDATE: At 7:05pm can you believe I am still at work, UGH!!! You'd think they'd pay me better for this. :( I am leaving in the next 20 minutes.

Well it's been quite a weekend

I had hoped to regale you with the wonderful stories of my blessed union on Friday, but it turned out that that post was not meant to be :( I spent my time instead in the emergency room with chest pain and was admitted. Turns out that the problems I mentioned in my last post were not to be ignored. After days of tests the doctors determined that my thyroid has gone out of balance and has caused my heart to be at a constant racing pace. Nitroglycerin is no joke, WOW!!! That was quite a rush, at least it took away the chest pain, but it gave me quite the headache. In the mean time they have put me on Beta Blockers to prevent my thyroid from causing my heart to race. I am glad that I didn't wait too long, who knows what would have happened. Baby is doing just fine as far as I can tell, though it would have been nice if they'd taken a peek. Well, I'm going to bed now, tomorrow is a working day after all. :(

AWOL

Some of you know that I am a tax software programmer by day, so to say the least I am swamped right now :( Weekends just roll into the regular week :( You'll be pleased to know though that I have not just sat back twiddling my thumbs :) I rocked the boat, took on the establishment . . . and now I know why most people don't bother :( Ok well that's my alloted time to breathe, I'm going to have to get back to the mine.
