Snake among us

Today AR found a snake in the laundry room, now living on a farm snakes are a part of life, especially when you have chickens. We have been very fortunate not to find snakes in the coop and/or layer boxes, but this guy has been a rather frequent visitor to our laundry room for some time. This time though he stuck around long enough to get caught and killed. Now I am well aware of the "good" qualities of snakes, especially their mouse catching skills but this guy was falling down on the job big time and had overstayed his welcome. I'm just hoping that there isn't more where he came from :(

WOW...what kind of snake was it?

Yeah, I wouldn't be too pleased with a snake in the laundry room. Thanks for posting about it, though, because Kansas Dad insists they won't come inside.

Gross! A snake got into my house a couple years ago. I saw it first in the garage and then the next day in the kitchen. I almost had a heart attack. It was non-venomous, but it was big and gross. Still gives me nightmares!

Can't see the head enough to know for sure, but looks like a plain-belly water snake. (yeah, you often find them a ways away from water too). They will eat your chicken eggs, so although not harmful to you personally, probably not one you want to have around.
